Where to Catch the Best Nightlife in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach

The beaches and glistening water may be the main attraction in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, but the fun doesn’t have to end when the sun goes down. Evening brings a mix of waterfront restaurants, beach bars, and laid-back music venues where locals and visitors gather to unwind, hear local bands, and enjoy the easygoing atmosphere. Here are a few of our favorite places to go for a night out along Alabama’s Gulf Coast!

1. The Wharf

The Wharf in Orange Beach comes alive every night with a robust lineup of dining, drinks, and entertainment, all within easy walking distance in the Entertainment District. You’ll have several choices for a late-night dinner, but we suggest Villagio Grille, then catch some live music at Portside, a new outdoor entertainment space featuring local and regional bands. 

You can also grab a cocktail at the 8 Reale speakeasy (don’t forget to grab the code hidden in their latest social media post), test your swing at Tee Off before catching a ride on the Ferris Wheel. The Gulf Babe Wine Boutique is always a fun time, and the Amphitheater features a full lineup of entertainment. Before heading out, make sure you swing by the Sandshaker for a Bushwhacker, a signature, creamy mix of deliciousness you’ve got to try while here!

2. CoastAL

CoastAL is located directly on the beach, and it’s one of our favorite places to meet friends and just hang out. The Beach Bar and open-air restaurant serve fresh Gulf seafood and handcrafted cocktails, and you can also pick up hats, shirts, and sunglasses at the CoastAL Store. Check out the calendar to see who might be playing when you’re in town! And, of course, since you’re right on the beach, there’s nothing like a stroll in the sand under the moonlight!

3. South Baldwin Community Theatre

Although it may not be the first place you’d think of for a night out, the South Baldwin Community Theatre is a true standout that’s well worth checking out. They put on a variety of productions throughout the year, from comedies to musicals, and the cast is always phenomenal. It’s really a fun way to spend the evening, and you’ll likely be surprised by how much talent fills the stage. Afterward, swing by the Ice House Tap Room, a laid-back local waterfront bar with a late-night menu.

4. Flora-Bama

Flora-Bama is easily one of the most famous stops for Gulf Shores and Orange Beach nightlife, and a place that should be on every visitor’s list. Music plays year-round on five different stages, with everything from country and rock to blues and beach music, plus occasional concerts on the sand. Thursday nights bring the Steven and Joe piano show, a fun, sing-along piano set that’s a real crowd-pleaser. And if you missed a Bushwhacker at The Wharf, you can grab one here, then watch the sun go down and settle in for a night that often lasts longer than expected. 

The Oyster Bar is open after midnight on the weekends, so you can grab some baked oysters and late-night munchies, too. Before heading out, swing by the gift shop for a hat or commemorative t-shirt you can wear on your next visit to one of their legendary annual events, worth checking out the next time you’re in town.

5. Big Beach Brewing Company

If you’re still on the hunt for Gulf Shores and Orange Beach nightlife, Big Beach Brewing Company is another option. Swing by for happy hour and sample one of their locally brewed beers, then stick around for live music or one of their rotating events, like trivia or bingo. With a casual taproom, outdoor seating, and plenty of craft brews on tap, it’s the kind of place you’ll put on repeat.

6. OWA

Another fun option is OWA Parks & Resort, a large entertainment destination in nearby Foley. The pedestrian-friendly downtown area hosts a full calendar of events throughout the year, so there’s almost always something happening after dark. Who knows? You might stumble into a themed night, like karaoke or poker night. From variety shows to live music and more, it’s a great place to get out, see the sights, and enjoy a fun evening out.
